On May 5, 2025, Governor Gianforte signed Senate Bill 330 creating the Montana Blockchain and Digital Innovation Task Force. The Governor charged the task force to:
develop knowledge and expertise regarding issues pertaining to blockchain, financialtechnology, and digital innovation technology; and
develop and introduce recommendations regarding policy pertaining to:
the promotion in the state of the adoption of blockchain, financial technology, and digitalinnovation;
the development of nonfinancial incentives for industries in the state related to blockchain,financial technology, and digital innovation;
the promotion of partnerships with existing financial institutions and regulated financial service entities with respect to blockchain, financial technology, and digital innovation; and
the regulation in the state of blockchain, financial technology, and digital innovation.
The bipartisan task force will report its findings and recommendations to the Economic Affairs Interim Committee and the Legislative Council by July 1, 2026. All task force meetings will be open to the public with the option to participate via Zoom. Meetings will also be recorded and made available on this webpage.
